چکیده

The objective of this observational cohort study was to characterize the pattern rumination time (RT), physical activity (PA), and lying (LT) monitored by an automated health monitoring system, based on ear-attached sensor, immediately before, during, after clinical diagnosis (CD) metabolic-digestive disorders. Sensor data were collected from 820 lactating Holstein cows daily calving up 21 DIM for detection disorders (HD). Cows grouped retrospectively in no-clinical disorder group (NCHD; n = 616) if no HD diagnosed, or (METB-DIG; 58) diagnosed with ketosis indigestion only. another within −7 +7 d CD displaced abomasum, ketosis, included plus one (METB-DIG+1; 25). Daily RT, PA, LT, absolute relative changes analyzed linear mixed models without repeated measures. Rumination PA smaller, LT greater METB-DIG METB-DIG+1 than NCHD most days HD. In general, differences larger between groups groups. cases, RT decreased a nadir increased peak before HD, return levels similar 7 CD. Absolute values 5 day different group. For had affected disorders, resolution signs group, but increase decrease observed signs. We conclude that dairy including presented substantial alterations captured sensor. Thus, systems sensors might be used as aid identifying Moreover, positive indicators recovery

Automated measurement of lying behavior for monitoring the comfort and welfare of lactating dairy cows

Behavioral monitoring may be useful to assess the welfare, state of health and comfort of farm animals. Lying behavior is often used as an indication of well-being in cattle and for evaluating the stall quality. The use of electronic data loggers to automate behavioral recording has become increasingly common. We tested the use of the Pedometer Plus tag (S.A.E. Afikim, Israel) for measuring the...

Lying behavior as an indicator of lameness in dairy cows.

Lameness is widely recognized as one of the most serious welfare and production concerns in the dairy industry. Our objectives were to evaluate the associations between lying behavior and lameness, and to determine whether lying behavior can be used as a diagnostic tool for lameness. Electronic data loggers recorded lying behavior of 1,319 cows from 28 farms at 1-min intervals for 5 d. These co...

the effects of high non fibrous carbohydrates diet on milk production, inflammation and molecular mechanism of innate immunity in lactating dairy cows

detection of volatile compounds of medicinal plants with some nano-sorbents using modified or new methodologies and investigation of antioxidant activity of their methanolic extracts

in this work, a novel and fast method for direct analysis of volatile compounds (davc) of medicinal plants has been developed by holding a filament from different parts of a plant in the gc injection port. the extraction and analysis of volatile components of a small amount of plant were carried out in one-step without any sample preparation. after optimization of temperature, extraction time a...
